A horrific crash between a Ford Mustang and an empty produce truck on I-15 left two local teens dead yesterday. Micah Story, 17, of Chubbuck, and Jacob Colbo, 18, of Blackfoot, were killed after being ejected from the Mustang.

Officials aren’t sure exactly what happened, but a witness said he saw the mustang dip into the median without slowing down, head north into oncoming traffic, hit the produce truck and explode. Police say the Mustang flipped over before the collision. The driver of the truck was unharmed.

The accident, which happened around 3 p.m. at mile marker 83.5, shut down I-15 for hours. The southbound lanes didn’t reopen until 6:45 p.m.

Local News 8s Brittany Borghi, who was on the scene, said the car was “gutted” and “torn to shreds,” like nothing she’s ever seen before. Shoes and other belongings scattered the highway, a very human reminder of the two young lives tragically cut short.
