Yogurt maker Chobani has announced plans to open a new yogurt plant in Twin Falls. The brand of Greek Yogurt is owned by the Norwich, N.Y.-based Agro-Farma, who plans on investing over $100 million to build the plant on 200 acres of agricultural land.
Gov. Butch Otter said the plant should bring in about $200 million in regional sales and could create upwards of 400 new jobs. Hamdi Ulukaya, CEO and founder of Chobani, said the company chose Twin Falls because of its abundant supply of milk and skilled labor, in addition to its tight-knit community.
The plant, which will open sometime in 2012, will go hand-in-hand with Chobani’s other production site in South Edmeston, N.Y.
