Some people know how to take a bad situation and make it so much worse. Jennifer D. Gonzalez, a 21-year-old Idaho Falls woman, knows alllll about it. According to a press release, Idaho Falls police showed up at Gonzalez’s home on the 2700 block of St. Clair Avenue on Sunday morning on a report of a disturbance. Officers tried talking to the woman, but things all went downhill from there.
Police say Gonzalez was uncooperative, which is maybe understandable! Some people deal with a lot of stress in their lives and the last thing they need is a surprise visit by police on Sunday morning! Then Gonzalez allegedly pulled out a knife, which is not understandable at all, no matter how much stress you deal with in life.
She then came at an officer with the knife, and refused to put it down when they ordered her to (“I don’t take orders from anyone!” I imagine her saying). After several more attempts to get her to drop the knife, an officer just used his Taser and arrested her for felony assault on certain personnel. So in summary, Ms. Gonzalez went from maybe a citation and a fine for disturbance, to a felony charge that can land her in jail for up to five years. Talk about making mountains out of molehills.
