The Idaho National Laboratury is going to be cutting upwards of 185 jobs, according to an internal memo. Apparently the laboratory’s parent company, Battelle Energy Alliance LLC, needs to cut an inexact number of jobs for a rising cost of fuel and commodities, and a decrease in demand and business.
The company announced the decision to employees this morning, telling them they have a chance to voluntarily leave if they want. There isn’t any news about what kind of deal, if any, employees who volunteer to leave will get, but all laid off employees will receive a severance package.
The voluntary lay-offs will begin in the middle of March, while the involuntary ones will begin at the end of that month.
