UPDATE 2: Pocatello Police spokesman Lt. Paul Manning said while the initial charges against Owen are light, that doesn’t mean they will necessarily be the only charges filed against him.
“Keep in mind that the charge that they arrested him on was based on the information that they had early in the investigation,” said Manning. “They can dismiss the charge and they can re-file attempted murder or whatever.”
Manning said detectives are still investigating the incident, so they don’t know whether or not there will be extra charges just yet.
UPDATE: Pocatello Police are now saying the shooting followed a verbal altercation.
Pocatello police have charged Andrew C. McKnight Owen, 26, in an early morning shooting today.
Police responded to 1010 North Arthur Ave. at about 3:30 this morning after a man was shot in the chest. According to police, the victim was allegedly shot by Owen from a car on the 400 block of West Custer Street.
The victim identified Owen and his car, which police found shortly after on City Creek Road. After interviewing him, they officially charged Owen.
While the victim is in the intensive care unit at Portneuf Medical Center, Owen is charged with two counts of unlawful possession of a firearm by a felon, aggravated battery and burglary.
